The results of the preliminary inspection found that the vessels were suspected of committing several offences according to the Merchant Shipping Ordinance 1952 for overloaded cargo and the Control of Supplies Act 1961 for failing to submit relevant documents.

Shafie said the crew was detained while the ship and 120,000 litres of diesel worth about RM300,000 were seized before being taken to the Vessel Detention Centre (PTV) Jetty, Miri Maritime Zone for further investigation.
