Global marine energy solutions provider KPI OceanConnect on Thursday (1 February) said it successfully delivered LNG bunker fuel to the first mega-sized container vessel in Malaysia, in partnership with PETRONAS.
MSC Thais, a 15,600 TEU container vessel, received 1600 metric tonnes (mt) of LNG from Petronas’ tanker Titan Vision at Pulau Kukup anchorage on 12 January.
“LNG as a marine fuel offers a viable pathway to lowering carbon emissions across the shipping industry, as it becomes increasingly available to bunker in ports across the world,” KPI OceanConnect said in a social media post.
“KPI OceanConnect is proud to partner with industry leaders MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company to drive the development of infrastructure to meet increasing demand for sustainable marine energy solutions.”
