International law firm Helmsman LLC on Monday (29 August) announced the firm’s official transition into a multi-disciplinary law firm servicing clients and partners throughout the Asia Pacific, Greater China and further afield.
Helmsman LLC started as a dedicated shipping and commodities specialist practice.
The firm formally announced the formation of new practice groups – commercial disputes, employment, and corporate, banking and finance – to join the already established shipping and commodities practice groups.
“Over the last 3 years, the firm carefully and patiently selected and hired senior lawyers with the requisite expertise and who share the firm’s practice ethos to head the practice groups,” shared Maureen Poh, Director, Helmsman LLC.
“The selection process at Helmsman LLC is beyond academic achievements. The intensity of the recruitment process is to ensure that the selected candidates meet the cultural fit. The team’s synergy is priority at the firm.”
The firm will introduce each practice group and its respective heads over the next few weeks.
Tang Chong Jun, Executive Director, Helmsman LLC, said: “Helmsman will provide international level multi-disciplinary legal services as part of the firm’s global strategy.”
With growing integrated cross-sector business activities and requests from existing clients seeking closer working relationships and cooperation with Helmsman LLC, “it was a natural process,” explained Ian Teo, Managing Director, Helmsman LLC, on the firm’s expansion into a multi-disciplinary law firm.
Teo further added, “Our clients are asking us to do so much more, in fields beyond shipping and commodities. We are growing our services to broaden and deepen our client relationships and continue to provide our clients with plain practical advice to support their businesses.”
Helmsman LLC was founded in 2019. The firm has since grown to become one of the leading law firms in Asia. The firm routinely acts for clients in varied and high value commercial transactions and disputes across the world from their offices based in Singapore and Hong Kong.
