Silverstream Technologies on Friday (6 January) said integrated multinational logistics firm Grimaldi Group has chosen to install Silverstream® System on five of its new Pure Car Truck Carriers (PCTCs), with the option for five more vessels in future.
The vessels will be built at China Merchants Heavy Industry (Jiangsu).
“These will be Silverstream’s first PCTC installations and represent an important milestone as we enter the segment with our proven air lubrication system,” said Silverstream Technologies in a social media post.
The 9,000 CEU PCTCs will be equipped with a host of other efficiency solutions including innovative propulsion and optimised hull design, mega lithium batteries, solar panels and shore connection. The ships have also been designed to be converted to use ammonia as marine fuel in future.
The Silverstream® System is now operational on 12 of Grimaldi’s in-service vessels, plus two newbuild RoRos in its Eco Class fleet.
