Houston-based Dongsung Finetec (DSFI) in December received an approval of Product Design Assessment (PDA) from ABS for its cryogenic spray foam insulation.
The insulation product can be used on small and medium sized LNG, LPG carriers and LNG fuel tanks, says DSFI.
The DSFI spray foam insulation system is developed for the insulation of tanks with temperatures down to –261 F.
It is designed to improve insulation efficiency, minimise maintenance costs and reduce the application time.
A spray foam insulation solution, when compared to a double wall vacuum insulation solution, offers reductions of 30% in cost, 40% in lead time, and 40% in weight, according to information from the DSFI website.
