Marine energy company Blue Energy Partners on Monday (5 October) said it has secured a double-digit million-dollar financing through two new agreements with global partners.
The agreements follow Blue Energy Partners’ rebrand from Global Fuel Supply in May 2026, as the company expanded its business beyond fuel trading into marine energy.
The financing strengthens the company’s capital base as it continues to expand internationally.
The agreements cover different parts of the business. Vessel financing strengthens the company’s physical operations and continued expansion within physical supply, while trade finance and working capital provides additional capacity to accelerate Blue Energy Partners’ international trading activities.
Since its foundation by Bijan Shahbaz and Lamin Bara in 2022 in Copenhagen, the company has grown across the world and today operates across seven offices on four continents.
The business has expanded from a Copenhagen-based marine fuel trading business into an international energy partner with a broader portfolio of marine and environmental solutions. Today, Blue Energy Partners operates its bunker barges in West Africa, supplies ISCC certified biofuels and trades EU, UK and Swiss ETS carbon credits.
“From the beginning, we have had strong ambitions for Blue Energy Partners and have continuously invested in our people, our capabilities and our partnerships,” says co-founder and Group COO Bijan Shahbaz.
“These agreements are another important step in that journey. It gives us greater flexibility to pursue opportunities and continue building the business for the long term.”
For the company’s finance organisation, the agreements also represent an important step in developing a capital structure that can support an increasingly international business.
“This is an important milestone from a financial perspective and reflects the confidence our financial partners have in Blue Energy Partners and our balance sheet,” says Group CFO Kenneth Henriks. “As the business grows, our capital structure needs to grow with it.”
For Blue Energy Partners, the new financing represents more than additional financial capacity. The agreements establish long-term relationships with financial partners, with the ambition for the partnerships to grow alongside Blue Energy Partners.
“We, together with our new financial partners, see this as just the beginning and expect the partnerships to expand further over the next coming years.” said Group CFO Kenneth Henriks.
