[email protected] Shipping reveals names of first six of 12 battery hybrid vessels

16 Jan 2023

Ship operator and logistics company [email protected] Shipping on Thursday (12 January) unveiled the names of the first six of 12 5,350 dwt battery hybrid vessels it ordered.

The firm said this was done ahead of the delivery of the first of these six plug-in hybrid vessel in the third quarter of this year.

The first vessel, expected to be delivered Q3 of this year, will be named Electramar. The firm said the name is a fitting reference to the vessel’s hybrid propulsion, battery pack and shore power connectivity.

The second vessel, slated for delivery at the end of the year, will be named Stellamar.

“Chosen names reflect the environmental friendliness of the vessels and [email protected] Shipping’s established tradition to name vessels with the -mar suffix”, says Frida Rowland, Director, Corporate Business Development at [email protected] Shipping.

The names of the first six vessels in the order of construction are:

  • Electramar
  • Stellamar
  • Ecomar
  • Aquamar
  • Maximar
  • Terramar

The names are based on the naming competition arranged for the group’s personnel earlier last year. [email protected] Shipping will reveal the names of the next six vessels at a later stage.

Note: More information about the new vessels is available here.
