China (Zhejiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone on Monday (9 February) said China’s Ministry of Commerce recently approved Zhoushan city to carry out the first national pilot programme for blending and exporting marine biofuel oil.
China (Zhejiang) Pilot Free-Trade Zone added a dedicated regulatory framework on biofuel blending and mixing has been released with the approval.
This move marked an achievement in the construction of the China (Zhejiang) Pilot Free Trade Zone’s bulk commodity resource allocation hub and a major boost for the long-term development of the green marine fuel industry.
“This policy breakthrough will change China’s reliance on imported biofuel oil, enabling independent production and export,” it said.
“Zhoushan is also expected to become an important source of biofuel for marine vessels in China and even Northeast Asia.”
Zhoushan is currently actively preparing to launch its first pilot order, aiming to complete it by the end of February.
Launching this pilot order will not only facilitate rapid market supply but also help optimize business processes and establish an efficient, fast, and mature management system.
“With the implementation of the nation’s first pilot programme for blending biofuel oil, Zhoushan’s marine fuel bunkering business is expected to achieve even greater breakthroughs,” it added.
