Madrid-headquartered Molgas Energy Group on Monday (6 October) announced its first bio-LNG bunkering operation at the Port of Le Havre.
The company supplied bio-LNG to a United European Car Carriers (UECC) vessel using its trucks at the port.
With this operation, Molgas received a long-term permit for bunkering the fuel and is starting operations in Le Havre, a key hub of the French economy and a gateway to Europe.
“By adding Le Havre, we strengthen our strategic network of clean energy supply, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable maritime mobility,” the company said.
“This achievement would not have been possible without the collaboration of our teams, the port, agents, and dockworkers, whose support was essential in ensuring such a successful outcome.”
Four months ago, UECC said it achieved a massive reduction in well-to-wake CO2 emissions in 2024 mainly through bunkering high-impact liquefied biomethane (LBM), also known as bio-LNG, on LNG-fuelled vessels under its Sail for Change initiative supported by major European vehicle manufacturers.
The company’s annual environmental data showed its emissions fell by more than 107,000 tons of CO2 last year, a significant 70% increase on a reduction of over 63,000 tons achieved in 2023.
