Baltic Exchange: Bunker Report (6 July, 2023)

The following bunker report has been provided by freight market information provider Baltic Exchange for post on Singapore bunkering publication Manifold Times:
Commentary:
A few things to keep track of this week, including naval confrontations in the Arabian Gulf, continued strife in Israel/Palestine, and record-setting high temps in the northern hemisphere, all leading to increased volatility, and potential price moves to the upside as utilities hustle to keep up with demand for electricity. The port strike in British Columbia is about to enter its second week, with no resolution in sight. This is leading to backlogs for imports as well as exports, and railroads are looking to re-route trains to avoid a pile-up of TEUs. However not much has changed in the bunker market, with prices fairly stable week-on-week, and the biggest moves in HSFO in the US Gulf and Asian markets. Availability remains stable across all key ports.
