LNG bunker fuel supplier Titan, Nordic Hamburg Group, and Wesmar have been awarded funding from the German government to build three new LNG bunker vessels, according to Titan on Friday (23 December).

According to Titan, the company, Wesmar and Nordic Hamburg are poised to receive EUR 62 million (USD 66 million) from the German government.

“We are extremely happy with this news right before the Christmas holidays,” the company said in a social media post.

The vessels will each have 4,500 cubic metres (m3) of cargo capacity and will be used for LNG bunkering at German ports and in Europe.

The ships will initially provide fossil LNG, bio-LNG, and later also synthetic LNG as fuel for ships.

The new ships will also be designed for bunkering ammonia at a later date.
