Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd (CIMC SOE) recently said it has successfully hoisted two liquified natural gas (LNG) tanks on an LNG bunkering vessel [newbuild no. S1058] order by Fratelli Cosulich.

The operation marked an achievement in the construction of an LNG bunker tanker as the LNG bunker cargo storage tanks were hoisted from an inclined berth.

Considering that the berth has a certain inclination, the hoisting operation of the liquid tanks presented CIMC SOE with a difficult challenge, said the shipyard.

This led to its relevant departments conducting in-depth work and research in advance, which led to the development of precision protocols coupled with a set of solutions for hoisting the LNG tanks – resulting in the successful operation.

Representatives of the project, a classification society and relevant leaders of the company, departments and other leaders were on location to witness the whole hoisting process.
