The quarterly performance of Singapore’s bunkering and ship chandlers sector has fallen on year, according to data compiled by the Department of Statistics (DOS).

The data, presented as the Wholesale Trade Index (WTI) to measure the performance of the whole sale trade industry, tracks changes within the republic’s foreign and domestic sectors.

The foreign WTI, which measures wholesale sales outside Singapore, showed performance of the bunkering and ship chandlers sector down by 5.2% on year during the first quarter (Q1) of 2018; the similar sector was down 8.4% when compared to a quarter on quarter basis.

The domestic WTI, which records wholesale sales within Singapore, recorded a 5.2% decrease in the republic’s bunkering and ship chandlers sector on year in Q1 2018; when compared to the earlier quarter the sector posted a marginal fall of 0.8%.

Data used for the compilation of the WTI are obtained from the quarterly Wholesale Trade Survey conducted by DOS, as well as from administrative sources.
