Cosco Shipping affiliated yard Nantong Cosco KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. (NACKS) in January delivered the 20,000 TEU containership Cosco Shipping Aries at Nantong.

According to Cosco Shipping, Cosco Shipping Aries is the largest and most advanced containership delivered by a Chinese shipyard to date.

It has an overall length of 400 meters, molded beam and depth of 58.6 and 30.7 meters, maximum deadweight of 197,000 tons, and a deck area larger than four standard soccer fields.

The design further allows for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) system to be added on board at a future date for conversion to LNG bunker fuel.

The Cosco Shipping Aries serves in the route from the Far East to Northwest Europe as the first 20,000 TEU containership in Cosco’s fleet.
