SOHAR Port and Freezone, Metcore host workshop on MFM implementation

SOHAR Port and Freezone (SOHAR) on Monday (22 July) said it successfully conducted its second workshop with Singapore-based Metcore International Pte Ltd for the implementation of the Mass Flow Meter (MFM) system of the port.
The event brought together industry experts and stakeholders to explore the numerous advantages of MFM systems over traditional fuel measurement methods, highlighting their reliability, accuracy, and tamper-proof features.
Participants engaged in informative sessions that showcased how MFM technology streamlines operations and minimises errors.
“This workshop is a testament to SOHAR’s unwavering commitment to transparency and precision in logistics. By aligning its practices with global industry leaders such as Singapore, SOHAR Port is setting a benchmark for excellence in the region,” SOHAR said.
“The collaboration with Metcore International Pte Ltd has been instrumental in equipping the port with the technical expertise necessary for the successful integration and testing of these advanced systems.”
By enabling direct measurement of fuel by mass during custody transfers, SOHAR said MFM systems provide real-time data capabilities that facilitate immediate detection and resolution of any discrepancies on site. This not only enhances operational efficiency but also ensures compliance with industry standards.
Stephen Loh, Sales Manager, Metcore International said Port of Sohar would be the starting point for the implementation of the mass flow meter in Oman and that the company plans to collaborate with other ports in Oman in the near future.
“It is important to take the right approach in implementing a mass flow system, including choosing the right meter, sizing of the meter, looking into the operation aspect and being able to assist in the event of a dispute,” he added.
Manifold Times previously reported SOHAR formalising an agreement with Metcore for the implementation and training support for MFM systems in the Port of Sohar.
SOHAR Port and Freezone in February 2024 announced a mandate on the alignment of ISO 22192 standards ‘Bunkering of marine fuel using the Coriolis MFM system’ for all marine fuel supply operations within the port.
