The Syzran Refinery, which is part of the oil refinery complex of Russian oil major NK Rosneft, in 2021 increased the production of Residual Marine Low Sulphur (RMLS) 40 to 110,000 metric tonnes (mt) – twice its production volume in 2020, it said on Tuesday (22 March).

Increase in output of the product, which has a 0.5% sulphur limit, was achieved through the use of a new catalyst for the hydrotreatment of vacuum gas oil produced by Rosneft.

The plant also optimised the scheme for the manufacture and storage of marine fuel through the implementation of internal heating of the product in the tanks.

The Syzran Refinery of Rosneft started production of RMLS 40 bunker fuel in June 2020, according to an earlier Manifold Times report.
