Orim Energy claims VLSFO bunker delivery first at ARA to box liner

19 Feb 2019

Independent Dutch oil trading company Orim Energy on Friday (15 Fenruary) said it has delivered the first very low sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) bunker to a major container shipping liner in the Port of Rotterdam.

“It [IMO 2020] is the most significant change faced by the global shipping industry in decades: new IMO rules cut the allowed sulphur content in marine fuels to 0.5 percent from 3.5 percent by 2020,” said the company in a statement.

“To meet IMO 2020 emission rules – and stay ahead in the highly competitive shipping market – ship owners and shipping liners are looking for solutions that balance environmental demands and cost efficiency.

“Building on its expertise in ULSFO (<0.1%), Orim Energy has developed premium VLSFO with max. 0.5% that offers just that, and it has now delivered its first VLSFO bunker to a major container shipping liner.”

Orim Energy notes it has been a specialist in (ultra) low sulphur marine fuels since 2015 and is quickly developing into a leading ARA supplier of VLSFO marine fuel.

The company, founded in 2014, is a management-owned oil trading company located in the Netherlands and Malta.
