Mozambique-based marine fuel supplier Oceania Bunkering Mozambique is set to launch ship-to-ship (STS) bunkering operations at Beira Anchorage in October, according to a recent company announcement.
The operation will use the Great Wall Energy 1, a 4,283 DWT barge, delivered in 2026, with a capacity of about 2,500 metric tonnes (mt).
In a social media post, Oceania Bunkering said it will initially supply low-sulphur marine gasoil (LSMGO) to vessels at the anchorage.
The company plans to introduce additional marine fuel grades, including very low sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO), as the operation develops later this year.
With the longer routes around the Cape of Good Hope, the company said ships need more bunkering options in the region.
“Beira becomes one of them, with a reliable source of LSMGO for those crossing the Mozambique Channel,” it added.
The operation is supported by Petromoc and CFM Logistics, Mozambican state-owned entities linked to fuel and port-related operations.
Oceania Bunkering currently operates at Maputo, Beira, Nacala, Pemba and Quelimane, supplying marine fuels including VLSFO, marine gasoil (MGO) and high-sulphur fuel oil (HSFO), as well as marine lubricants.
