The Green Future, a methanol dual-fuel bulk carrier chartered from Kambara Kisen Co., Ltd. by NYK Bulk & Projects Carriers Ltd., an NYK Group company, received methanol bunker fuel via a ship-to-ship transfer operation at Ulsan Port in South Korea on Sunday (28 September), said NYK.

The low-carbon methanol supplied this time was produced using a mass balance method, which attributes environmental value to the manufacturing process by utilising renewable raw materials such as renewable natural gas and green hydrogen.

This method significantly contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Moreover, it has obtained ISCC EU certification, an international standard for sustainability and traceability of biomass and biofuels. This certification guarantees reduced environmental impact and transparency in the supply chain.
