Marine fuels supplier Monjasa on Tuesday (27 October) said it has appointed Simone Piredda as Trading Director in Singapore, succeeding Morten Jacobsen, who is moving to Texas to explore new business opportunities within the group’s offshore logistics business.
The company announced the leadership changes in a social media post, noting that Jacobsen had spent 16 years developing its presence in Asia.
Jacobsen joined Monjasa in Singapore in 2010 as its first employee in the country. Under his leadership, the company’s Asia platform has expanded to include operations in Singapore, Shanghai and Tokyo, supplying approximately 1.5 million metric tonnes (mt) of marine fuels annually.
“After 16 amazing years in Singapore, I will be stepping down from my position as Managing Director of Monjasa Asia and relocating with my wife to Houston, Texas, where I will be taking on new challenges within the Monjasa Group’s offshore and support services activities,” Jacobsen said in a separate post.
“Looking back to when I first arrived in 2010 to help establish Monjasa’s operations in Asia, it is remarkable to see how far we have come.”
Piredda will relocate from Dubai to Singapore, having spent the past eight years developing Monjasa’s trading and supply activities in West Africa.
Meanwhile, James Watkins has been promoted to Trading Manager in Dubai, where he will lead the company’s West Africa activities.
Monjasa said the appointments reflect its approach to developing employees across different regions, cultures and business areas within the group.
