Oslo-listed vessel provider Siem Offshore on Saturday (11 September) confirmed its dual fuel Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) Siem Symphony has been upgraded with a hybrid battery package, in line with the company’s strategic focus to proactively reduce its environmental footprint.
“The vessel was designed and built to satisfy the IMO 2020 regulations, and with the battery upgrade we consider this platform supply vessel as second to none on basis of being able to deliver safe, efficient and environmentally friendly operations through its high specification,” it stated.
“The installation was successfully conducted at Westcon’s yard at the Norwegian west coast during second quarter, and the vessel has been assigned the Battery Power notation from DNV.
“We are highly satisfied to see the initial results showing an immediate effect on reducing the vessel’s fuel consumption, subsequently contributing to Lundin Energy Norway’s commitment to minimizing the impact of its marine activities through managing the greenest term contract PSV fleet in the world.”
