A granddaughter of Hin Leong Trading Founder Lim Oon Kuin, also known as O.K. Lim, has failed to protect three insurance policies worth over SGD 521,000 from being part of her father’s bankrupt estate, The Straits Times reported on Wednesday (2 July).

The High Court of Singapore dismissed Michelle Lim’s application to declare the three AIA Singapore insurance policies were held on trust for her benefit by her father, former Hin Leong Trading director Lim Chee Meng, who was declared bankrupt in December 2024.

High Court Judicial Commissioner Mohamed Faizal reportedly found there was a lack of evidence of an intention on Mr Lim’s part, prior to his bankruptcy, to create a trust over the three policies for the sole benefit of his daughter.

O.K. Lim and his two children, Lim Huey Ching and Lim Chee Meng, were reportedly declared bankrupt in December 2024.

O.K. Lim was convicted in May 2024 on two charges of cheating and one charge of instigating forgery for the purpose of cheating after a trial of over 60 days.
