Former OOMCO Head of Marine and Bunkers Christophe El Kati joins Hermanos Commodities

Christophe El Kati, who left distributor of multi-sector fuel and lubricant product Oman Oil Marketing Company (OOMCO) as the Head of Marine and Bunkers, has joined a commodities firm. 

He announced on social media that he stepped down from OOMCO on 30 November 2023.

“Setting up a bunkering business was a huge challenge, (but) we have successfully established a bunkering supply in Oman and it becomes well known on the worldwide map of the shipowners bunkering purchaser’s map,” he said in his post. 

Later he announced he was joining Sfax Oil group of companies from 1 January, 2024 as the Global Business Director of Hermanos Commodities. 

“Sfax Oil is a Shareholder company in Motor Oil Hellas (MOH) Greece, Sfax Commodities in Switzerland, and Hermanos Commodities in Dubai DMCC,” he said.

“I’m joining the group as a Head of Business Director, we will have plenty of trading opportunities in Cargo Trading to work together,” he said.

Several resolutions for Xihe Holdings’ subsidiary Nan Chuan Maritime Pte Ltd were made during an extraordinary general meeting held on 3 June, according to a notice in the Government Gazette on Tuesday (9 June).

The meeting was held at 2pm at 8 Marina View, #40-04/05, Asia Square Tower 1 and by electronic means. 

The following resolutions were duly passed during the meeting:

SPECIAL RESOLUTION – WINDING-UP

That the Company be wound up pursuant to section 160(1)(b) of the Insolvency, Restructuring and Dissolution Act 2018.

ORDINARY RESOLUTION – APPOINTMENT OF LIQUIDATORS

That Mr. Paresh Tribhovan Jotangia and Ms. Ho May Kee of Grant Thornton Singapore Private Limited, 8 Marina View, #40-04/05 Asia Square Tower 1, Singapore 018960 be and are hereby appointed as joint and several liquidators to conduct the said winding-up and that their remuneration be fixed on the usual scale of their professional charges for the work involved.

SPECIAL RESOLUTION – DISTRIBUTION OF ASSETS IN SPECIE

That the liquidators of the Company be authorised to exercise any of their powers given by section 177, 144 (1) and (2) of the Insolvency, Restructuring and Dissolution Act 2018 and to distribute to members, in specie, any part of the assets of the Company.

Panama-flagged cargo ship Ashico Symphony was arrested in Singapore waters on Saturday (6 June).

The vessel was added to the list of vessels under Sheriff’s arrest in Singapore’s court system. 

According to the list, the vessel was arrested at 4.40pm and the arresting solicitor listed was law firm CLASIS LLC. The ship is currently held at Eastern Anchorage / 5417C. 

No details were provided in the list regarding the reason behind the arrest.

The International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) recently announced that Caroline Yang, CEO, Hong Lam Marine Pte Ltd has been appointed by the IBIA Global Board as Chair of the Regional Board – Asia.

Yang, CEO of Hong Lam Marine Pte Ltd, brings over 30 years of experience in the shipping industry. She joined Hong Lam Marine as in-house legal counsel in 1991 and was appointed Executive Director in 2002. As CEO, she oversees the company’s legal and human resources functions.

Yang succeeds Captain Rahul Choudhuri, who has completed his term as Regional Chair. 

IBIA said the transition reflects IBIA’s commitment to rotating leadership roles across its boards, ensuring broader participation and strong regional engagement.

Alexander Prokopakis, Executive Director, IBIA, said: “We are pleased to welcome Caroline Yang as Chair of the IBIA Asia Regional Board. Caroline brings industry experience, leadership, and regional insight, which will be invaluable in further strengthening IBIA’s presence and engagement across Asia.

“I would also like to sincerely thank Capt. Rahul Choudhuri for his leadership and commitment over the past years, and for his continued support to the Association”.
