Fire on Malaysia-flagged tanker “MT Tiger Star” kills one crew member

One crew member was killed and one is missing after a fire broke out on Malaysia-flagged oil tanker MT Tiger Star in the border waters between Indonesia and Malaysia on Tuesday (18 April), according to Indonesia-based news outlets.
Tanjungpinang National Search And Rescue Agency (Basarnas) head, Slamet Riyad, reportedly said there was a fire in the engine room and bridge of the ship.
He said there were five Indonesian crew members on board the ship when it departed from Johor to the border.
As a result of the incident, one was confirmed killed, one who was reportedly missing was found and two are safe. Search and rescue efforts are still ongoing for the missing crew member, named Iqbal, 17.
The crew members who were safely evacuated were identified as Capt. George Piter, 55, Anggi, 40 and Davi, 35 while the deceased was identified as Wilmar, 50. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
