Dalian Shipbuilding Industry (DSI) and Xinao Energy (also known as ENN Group) has entered into an 8,500 cubic metre (m3) capacity liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering tanker newbuilding contract.
The agreement was signed by Yang Zhi Zhong, general manager of DSI, and Zhang Yesheng, CEO of ENN Group in the presence of Lu Xiao Hui, chief engineer and deputy general manager of DSI, and related parties.
The 8,500 m3 LNG bunker tanker will be the world's largest to use type ‘C’ LNG tanks; it has a total length of 119.3 meters, a width of 19.8 meters, a depth of 11 meters, a design draught of 5.9 meters, and a structure draft of 6.2 meters, says DSI.
The vessel will support LNG operations at a new Austria-Zhoushan International LNG filling terminal, and complement LNG bunkering operations at Zhoushan port when it is delivered.
“The project's undertaking further establishes the leading position of Dalian Shipbuilding Industry in the construction of liquefied natural gas vessel projects, and also marks Dalian Shipbuilding Group seizing market opportunities in the field of dedicated LNG fuel filling vessels,” notes DSI.
