The Public Gas Corporation of Greece A.E., also known as DEPA, on Tuesday (18 December) signed a grant agreement with the European Union for the construction of the first Piraeus-based bunker tanker supplying LNG as a marine fuel to vessels, it says.

The 3,000 cubic meter capacity LNG bunker tanker will be the first such vessel in Greece and the Eastern Mediterranean; it will also be able to transport LNG to other major ports in the country.

DEPA is systematically promoting the use of LNG in shipping, participating as a co-ordinator and partner of the EU co-funded program POSEIDON MED II.
