Sinopec Yangzi Petrochemical on Thursday (16 April) said it has successfully started producing low-sulphur marine fuel oil that meets with industry requirements, according to Sinopec News Network, the company’s official news agency.
As low-sulphur marine fuel is produced with heavy fuel oil blended with other components to create a product of higher value, the company says it is a viable solution to reduce the refinery’s inventory of heavy fuel oil and create new revenue streams.
Production planning started on 1 April and all departments had to cooperate together to make the required modifications not only for production but also for storage and transportation in order to meet the tight deadline and ensure product quality.
