Axiom Global delivers first bio bunker fuel stem at Khorfakkan anchorage

Bunker supply and oil trading company Axiom Global Oil and Gas Trading DMCC on Wednesday (10 January) said it has successfully completed its first biofuel delivery at Khor Fakkan anchorage. 

The supply operation, conducted on 9 January, involved the delivery of B24 VLSFO (Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil). The VLSFO was blended with certified biofuel obtained from local sources. The physical supply was handled by SPR Global, a key partner in this initiative. 

The firm said the accomplishment underscored Axiom’s commitment to environmentally friendly bunker fuel alternatives and aligns with global efforts to reduce carbon emissions in the maritime sector.

“The utilisation of certified biofuels holds significant promise in addressing the challenge of decarbonising the hard-to-abate maritime industry,” it said in a statement.

“Biofuels contribute to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions on a well-to-wake basis, playing a crucial role in achieving sustainability targets. It is anticipated that such biofuel blends can actively decrease a vessel’s Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII), serving as a crucial step toward a more environmentally conscious shipping industry.”
