Maritime fuel oil consumption measurement and performance monitoring systems company Aquametro Oil & Marine AG on Thursday (14 January) said Aquametro Oil & Marine China (AOMC) has received an order for to install its bunker fuel monitoring system RMS of AOM on four tugs from Ningbo-Zhoushan port with delivery and commissioning scheduled for July 2021.
This is in addition to the orders it received from Zhoushan port in 2020.
In order to comply with EU MRV and MARPOL conventions, China plans to be carbon neutral by 2060, and this means reducing carbon emissions from 16 billion tonnes a year to zero by 2060.
As a part of achieving this target, the government has issued strict environmental conventions that require all state-owned vessels, such as tugs, to save energy and reduce emissions.
Ningbo Zhoushan Port awarded AOMC with a contract to install its fuel monitoring system RMS and Flowmeters for eight of its newbuildings in May and November 2020.
The RMS/FM will allow the port to monitor and optimise bunker fuel consumption and efficiency of its tugs and contribute towards emission reduction.
AOMC said it has just finished the boarding commissioning process for four tugs at Zhoushan port in
December 2020 and reports four more vessels scheduled to be commissioned in July 2021.
