Glander promotes Rune G. Kongstein to lead European commercial activities

Glander International Bunkering on Monday (5 October) said it has promoted Rune G. Kongstein to Commercial Director, Europe, effective immediately.

The newly created role reflects the company’s strategy of bringing its European commercial activities closer together under a unified leadership structure, connecting its operations in Norway, Switzerland and Spain.

Kongstein will oversee Glander’s commercial marine fuel and new fuel activities across Europe, working closely with local teams to develop regional strategies, strengthen collaboration and support customers operating across the region.

Europe’s marine fuel market is becoming increasingly interconnected, while commercial conditions remain highly local. In response, Glander International bunkering is aligning its European activities, with the aim of connecting local market expertise more closely across the region.

Kongstein said: “Europe is becoming more complex for marine fuel buyers. A more coordinated approach allows us to bring together our market intelligence, relationships and supply capabilities across Europe while retaining the local expertise that remains essential in our industry.”

Kongstein has more than 35 years of experience across bunkering, bunker broking, oil products and shipping.

Before joining Glander International Bunkering in 2020, he held several senior leadership positions within the marine-fuels sector.

He joined Glander as Managing Director in Norway, overseeing the Oslo and Tønsberg teams.

Under his leadership, the Norwegian business strengthened its position in the Scandinavian bunker market while expanding its capabilities in biofuels, marine urea and emissions-related services.

Kongstein added: “Each of our offices brings deep local expertise and strong customer relationships. My focus will be on connecting those strengths more closely, helping us share knowledge, identify opportunities and create even greater value for customers across Europe.”
