World Kinect marine fuels segment gross profit down 26% on year for Q2 2025

New York-listed global energy management company World Kinect Corporation on Thursday (31 July) recorded a 5% on year decrease in gross profit for the second quarter (Q2) of 2025.

The company posted gross profit of USD 232 million in Q2 2025, lower than gross profit of USD 245 million seen during Q2 2024.

Revenue for its combined aviation, land and marine segments in Q2 2025 was USD 9.04 billion, a 17.6% decrease from revenue of USD 10.97 billion in Q2 2024.

Specifically, the marine segment generated gross profit of USD 27 million in Q2 2025, a drop of 26% on year from USD 36.7 million in Q2 2024.

This was principally due to an unfavourable transaction tax settlement recorded in the second quarter and weaker performance at certain marine physical inventory locations.

In total, WFS sold 3.9 million metric tonnes (mt) of bunker fuel during Q2 2025, down by 7% from 4.2 million mt of marine fuels during the similar period of last year.

According to a slide deck of the latest results by World Kinect on its website, volumes decreased 7% year-over-year related to reduced activity in its core commercial business, due in part, to ongoing global trade-related uncertainty.

The company is expecting gross profit for the marine segment to be down year-over-year in its outlook for Q3 2025, considering continued weakness in certain physical inventory locations.
