Acelen, the largest bunker producer in the Brazilian state of Bahia, on Thursday (25 April) said together with marine fuel and lube supplier Bunker One, they have completed bunkering over 100 ships in the anchorage area of São Marcos Bay, in Maranhão.
“It’s only been six months of partnership between Acelen and Bunker One and we’re already celebrating encouraging numbers. In April, we registered the mark of 100 vessels supplied with Bunker Oil in the anchorage sand of São Marcos Bay, in Maranhão,” it said in a social media post.
On 26 September 2023, Bunker One announced its partnership with Acelen, the largest bunker producer in the Brazilian state of Bahia, to offer the only outer anchorage bunkering operation in Brazil.
Starting September 2023, vessels such as large cargo ships and tankers can be supplied in the anchorage area of the Port of Itaqui in São Marcos Bay (MA).
“It is worth noting that ships that would not have a scheduled stop in São Marcos Bay began to plan strategic stops exclusively for refuelling. In other words, we proactively accelerate the economy and still generate new business. At these stops, ships take advantage of and hire new services from local port agencies, which helps to move the local economy even more,” Acelen said.
