China’s first self-developed and world’s largest LNG bunkering vessel Hai Yang Shi You 301 on Wednesday (14 June) performed its first bunkering operation in Ningbo-Zhoushan Port after it was converted from a LNG carrier vessel, according to China-based press.
The ship completed Zhejiang’s first ship-to-ship LNG simultaneous operation (SIMOPS) bunkering operation, which meant the containership carried out cargo operations at the terminal while receiving marine fuel simultaneously.
The event was also the first time a bonded LNG bunkering operation was completed at Ningbo-Zhoushan Port after the completion of CNOOC Zhejiang LNG Terminal.
The amount of LNG bunker fuel delivered to containership CMA CGM UNITY reached 9,400 cubic metres (m3) which can easily cover a single voyage from China to Europe.
Hai Yang Shi You 301 performed the refuelling on behalf of CNOOC. The ship is 184.7 metres long and 28.1 metres wide. It is China’s first self-built 30,000 cubic metre LNG carrier. In November 2022, the ship completed the transformation of the bunkering function and be classified as an LNG bunkering ship.
