Sinopec supplies bunker fuel to China Antarctic research vessels “Xue Long” and “Xue Long 2”

The General Administration of Customs on 30 November noted of two Antarctic research vessels Xue Long [雪龙] and Xue Long 2 [雪龙 2号] undergoing bunkering operations at Shanghai Port before their departure to the China Polar Research Center.The bunkering operation was conducted by Sinopec.

Each vessel received 2,000 metric tonnes (mt) of low Sulphur Gas Oil (LSGO) 0.1%S and some diesel fuel in preparation for their journey to Australia, before finally sailing to Antarctica where they are expected to stay for a period of about four months.
