Novatek purportedly stated LNG is not only more cost effective as a bunker fuel but also complies with new, stricter environmental measures in the region.

Russian major liquified natural gas (LNG) producer Novatek NVTK.MM on Monday (26 April) said it aims to utilise LNG-powered bunkering vessels at its hubs to ensure compliance with stricter environmental measures, reports Reuters.
Novatek is reportedly developing LNG transshipment hubs in Murmansk, the North Western region of Russia as well as in Kamchatka.
Novatek purportedly stated that LNG is not only more cost effective as a bunker fuel but also reduces NOX emissions by 76%, CO2 by 27%, as well as completely cutting out sulphur emissions as a component in soot and sulphur oxide.
