The Vietnam Coast Guard on Sunday (13 December) said it has deployed an operational plan to reduce the rate of crime that usually rises before and after the lunar new year.

This is in anticipation for the upcoming 2021 lunar new year and since then, the department reports it has continuously achieved positive results.

The task force for the operations on Friday (11 December) detained vessel TG 96669 TS for carrying 150,000 litres of undocumented diesel oil.

The team was out on patrol at 3.30 pm when they discovered the vessel about 70 nautical miles Southwest of Con Dao.

Initial investigations revealed that there was a Captain and six crew members onboard and the Captain was unable to provide any evidence to prove the legality of the diesel being carried onboard the vessel.

At 10.30 am on the same day, the task force had inspected and detained vessel Project 868, 80 nautical miles Southwest of Con Dao for unlawfully for transporting 100,000 litres of undocumented diesel oil.

Currently, Marine Police Zone Command Region 3 have detained the vessel and diesel onboard for further investigations and to be dealt with in accordance with Vietnamese law.
