The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) on Monday (15 April) detained two tankers at about 10.15 am and 11.20 am at approximately 4.5 nautical miles East Tanjung Penyusop and 3.1 nautical miles southeast of Tanjung Penyusop.

Identities of the Singapore-registered tanker and Mongolia-registered tanker were withheld.

Maritime Lieutenant Commander Muhammad Padzly bin Pasrial, Acting Deputy Director of Operations, Tanjung Sedili branch, said the arrest was due to both vessels failing to show any permission document from the Malaysian Marine Director.

He said the Singapore-registered tanker is controlled by 12 crew aged from 23 to 50 years. The Mongolia-registered tanker is controlled by 14 crew aged between 23 to 49 years old.
