Singapore shipyard Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M) has delivered its second LNG-fuelled tugboat newbuilding to affiliated tugboat services firm Keppel Smit Towage.
The Maju Loyalty is the second dual-fuel tugboat built by the shipyard. Earlier this year, Keppel O&M delivered its first LNG dual-fuel tugboat, the KST Liberty, to Keppel Smit Towage.
The two tugboats claim to offer “economical operations, efficient fuel consumption, a simplified bunkering process, and smart designs which enhance safety and comfort”. The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore had provided co-funding of up to S$2 million for each tug as part of its LNG Bunkering Pilot Programme (LBPP) grant.
FueLNG, a joint venture between Keppel O&M and Shell Eastern Petroleum, will provide LNG bunkering services for the Maju Loyalty, while Shell will supply the LNG fuel. Keppel O&M is separately building two LNG carriers, one LNG-fuelled vessel, and South East Asia's 'first' LNG bunkering vessel.
