Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Company ltd., also known as Sinopec, shipped 10,000 mt of low sulphur fuel oil to Zhoushan Zhejiang, for deliveries to vessels plying in waters near east of China during the Spring Festival, according to Sinopec News Network, the company’s official news agency.

Sinopec will follow up with a second batch of low-sulphur fuel oil during the Spring Festival to ensure adequate supply.

The report noted Sinopec being able to supply low-sulphur fuel oil to domestic ships passing through Shanghai Port as well as for foreign ships passing by Zhoushan port and Ningbo port.

It added the Sinopec petrochemical refinery using a hydrodesulphurisation process that features lower impurities in its feedstock, resulting in fuel which can be used in cold climates; suitable for ships plying waters with different climate conditions.

In Q4 2019, Sinopec supplied about 37,800 mt of low-sulphur fuel oil to the market.
