Singapore: Endress+Hauser organises flow measurement seminar for industry stakeholders
Swiss-based instrumentation and process automation firm Endress+Hauser (E+H) recently organised a series of seminars to educate industry stakeholders on flowmeter technology at its Singapore office.
The E+H Gas Flow Measurement Roadshow covered the introduction of E+H Promass (Coriolis flowmeter), Prowirl (Vortex flowmeter), Prosonic (Ultrasonic flowmeter), T-Mass (Thermal flowmeter) and Differential Pressure for flow measurement.
Amongst topics covered were the advantages and strength of each measurement technology, an overview of installation requirements, followed by a ‘live’ demonstration of the response time, low flow limitation, flow profile, installation effect, and setting error of each system.
Ng Kia Chai, Industry Manager at E+H, said the use of Coriolis technology for the measurement of marine fuel for custody transfer purposes is the most ideal, when compared to other types of flow meters.
“We offer a range of measurement technology for use under different purposes and scenarios, and in this case Coriolis MFMs are ideal for the measurement of marine fuel,” said Ng.
“Coriolis MFMs are able to directly measure true mass when compared to other technologies, such as ultrasonic flow meters which measure volume first and then use a formula for conversion to mass.
“Further, Coriolis MFMs offer high accuracy over a wide flow range, contain no moving parts and features easy installation which is a crucial factor when considering fitment on board bunker tankers.”
The E+H Promass X MFM, the world’s largest MFM unit capable of delivery rates of up to 1,000 metric tonnes per hour, was earlier installed on the bunker tanker MT Eager owned by Hong Lam Marine.
E+H, which established operations in Singapore since 1989, celebrates their 30th anniversary at the republic this year.
