Singapore: Bunker Cargo officer, crew face charges over alleged MFM tampering


A hearing at the State Courts of Singapore was held on Friday (21 June) over the alleged tampering of a mass flowmeter (MFM).

Mok Chek Meng and Nurharyadi were being charged under Section 5(1) Computer Misuse and Cybersecurity Act (Cap 50A, Rev Ed 2007) r/w Section 10(1) Computer Misuse and Cybersecurity Act (Cap 50A, Rev Ed 2007), show data from the Singapore court.

Current offences faced by both Mok and Nurharyadi “has connected cases”, according to the Duty Judge.

As such, he instructed them not to contact staff of Inter-Pacific Petroleum Pte Ltd, Gast Maritime Pte Ltd, Success Energy Pte Ltd, and New Ocean Pte Ltd which are undergoing related investigations.

Bail of SG $20,000, in half cash and half property, was granted to Mok who was represented by a lawyer.

Nurharyadi pleaded guilty of the charge.

Nurharyadi is believed to be a crew member of Singapore-flagged bunker tanker Consort Justice (IMO 9199701), a vessel operated by Gast Maritime; the vessel has recently been renamed as Fragrance.
