RN-Bunker deliver bunkers to “Boris Sokolov” in sub-zero temps
RN-Bunker, the bunkering subsidiary of Russian integrated energy company Rosneft, on Friday said it had for the first time provided marine fuel to the 60,000 m3 capacity Boris Sokolov gas condensate tanker at the seaport of Murmansk under challenging conditions.
The 2018 built vessel received more than 2,100 metric tonnes (mt) of RMG 380 grade produced at a Rosneft refinery.
“The bunkering of the tanker was carried out in conditions of limited visibility and low temperature (up to -24 C) in compliance with all the rules of marine and environmental safety,” said the company.
The Boris Sokolov is an Arc7 ice-class tanker capable of passing ices about two meters thick and can be operated at a temperature of -50 C.
It is designed to travel from Murmansk to Nanshi, China and back along the Northern Sea Route without icebreaker escort for gas condensate delivery operations.
