Bunker claim: Eastern Pacific Shipping takes ExxonMobil Asia Pacific to court

A hearing between Singapore-based global ship management firm Eastern Pacific Shipping Pte. Ltd. (EPS) and bunker supplier ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Pte Ltd was held at the High Court of the Republic of Singapore on Thursday (9 May) morning.

EPS and Eastern Pacific Chartering, owner of 203,185 dwt bulk carrier M/V Mount Kinabalu (IMO NO. 9337107), was seeking a bunker claim from ExxonMobil Asia Pacific, according to documents obtained by Manifold Times.

About 3,600 mt of 380 centistokes (cSt) marine fuel oil was supplied to M/V Mount Kinabalu on or about 3 and 4 July 2018.

The product, “did not meet the quality and/or specifications in the Contract and/or were of unsatisfactory quality and/or not reasonably fit for the particular purpose for which they were bought which as a consequence caused loss and damage to the Plaintiffs,” alleged EPS.
